History of Loughor Boating Club

compiled by William & Benita Rees

The History of Loughor Boating Club (1964-2009) records the Club’s history, building on "An Account of the History of Loughor Boating Club", written for the Llwchwr Society Magazine, Volume 12, 1987 by Meurig (Mike) G. Thomas. Vernon Bowen, Tony Reynolds, Vincent Davies, Rowland (Rowley) Phillips all founder members, Gareth Davies, Commodore 1973-1982, 1986-1987 and 2006-March 2009, and member Eddie Rees, provided original documents, photographs, information and anecdotes.

This CDROM covers the history of Loughor from Roman times, the Regattas before WWII, how it all started with the Vega, a dream of a boating club at Loughor and how dedicated members worked hard to get the project off the ground.

The CDROM, in pdf format, is fully searchable, contains more than 300 A4 pages, many in colour and is a must for anyone interested in local history, boating on the River Loughor and the Boating Club.

The following sections are included and cover all aspects of the Club’s history:
