Prince Charles donates Commemorative Plate
The Festival took place on Saturday 21st August and was a great success, despite the weather. Several stallholders did not turn up but there was plenty so see and enjoy.
Army Cadets marched from the Drill Hall to the Selwyn Samuel Centre and arrived around 10.40 am.
At 10.45 the welcome speeches were given - first by the Chairman and Treasurer of the of the Llanelli History Society.
Speeches were also given by the Chair of Carmarthenshire County Council, Tegwen Devichand; Dyfrig Thomas (Mayor) and Councillor Sharon Davies of the Rural Council.

Dignitaries in attendance were the Town Council Mayoral Party, consisting of the Mayor & Mayoress, Councillor Dyfrig Thomas & Miss Natasha Cody and the Deputy Mayor & Mayoress, Councillor & Mrs Roger Price; Rural Council Chairman, Councillor Sharen Davies and her Consort, Mr Philip Hunt Davies; Vice-Chairman, Councillor Susan N. Lewis and her Consort, Mrs Joan Roberts.

Terry Griffiths, formally opening the Festival
The event was declared officially open by former World Snooker champion Terry Griffiths at 11.00 am.
Various events took place throughout the day, including the Floral Art Society who gave several floral art demonstrations; Prince Nadin, an internationally acclaimed Illusionist Extraordinaire and the Llanelli Musical Players.

Llanelli Library staged an exhibition and Huw Edwards was in attendance to sign his book Capeli Llanelli.
In the afternoon the "Name the Teddy Bear" auction and Raffle results were announced. The large bear was donated by Major Evans of the Army Cadets. Other organisations donated raffle prizes, including a Commemorative Plate donated by Prince Charles, to help raise funds and local businesses provided sponsorship.
The Army Cadets acted as marshals, helping participants and visitors. Their help was greatly appreciated.
The Sound System, owned by Glanymor Ward, was kindly provided by Dave Tucker, Chairman, Communities First Llanelli.
